MIRROR OF DEATH
Tired of people treating you like an outcast? Fed up with being the ugly duckling? Now, with some green candles, a circle of baby powder, and the simple incantation “ili-aka-zonai,” you, too, can become beautiful, sexy, and the desire of all men everywhere! And if you act now, you will also get the power to slaughter people at your fingertips, absolutely free!
If this sounds like an irresistible offer, you need to see Mirror of Death! The Troma Team is very proud to present a tale of the underdog, a tale of possession. Director Deryn Warren (Black Magic Women, Bloodspell) directs us through a women’s hellish journey of domestic abuse and demon spirits. Sarah (Julie Merrill; The Monster Squad, American Dragon) has some severe self-esteem problems. She thinks she is anything but desireable. To make things even more dismal, Sarah shares a bed with the abusive Bobby (John Reno). Bobby’s bruises are the surface wounds on top of an already battered self-image. What Sarah needs is to meet a caring, loving man, a shining prince to whisk her away from her tortured life. There have been many days, and no prince has come. Lurking deep inside her is a dangerous envy. Sarah’s older sister April (Kuri Browne; Deadly Enemies, Victimized) is a beautiful actress and a very kind sibling, but Sarah can’t control her feelings of resentment. Sarah is growing weaker, and so is her ability to recognize that Bobby’s attention is not the kind she needs. But things are about to change. One day, Sarah quite conveniently stumbles upon a book of witchcraft left by one of April’s liberal friends, and begins to browse. As she flips through the pages of sorcery, she becomes more and more intrigued with what the volume of black arts can offer. She decides to conjure a spell granting physical beauty, desire, and lust. She is sure this will be the key that unlocks the hearts of all men everywhere!
Little does she know, Sarah simultaneously unleashes the long-dormant demon empress Sura! Sura lives in Sarah’s mirror, and possesses the unsuspecting girl every time she admires her new face. So while Sarah is out scoring studs, Sura is out hacking up hunks. Eyes bleed and cops fry as the demon empress exercises her hellish fury! The schizoid entity rolls in the hay and rolls in the carnage! But as the death toll rises, April and her boyfriend Richard (J.K. Dumont) grow suspicious. April realizes that Sarah is being controlled, and she is in trouble. With the aid of a spiritual guru, they battle Sura in a climax that will keep your bleeding eyes glued to the screen! Demonic empresses put up quite a fight, but a family’s invincible love triumphs. They eventually exorcise the empress from Sarah’s body, and contain the demon spirit.
Is Sura banished for good? Will she ever again drink the blood from men’s hearts?
Who knows…dating can be dangerous!
